Dr. Ruth Pérez is the Deputy Superintendent of the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) and brings over 20 years of superintendent experience to her role. As a former English Language Learner from Puerto Rico, Dr. Pérez is deeply committed to justice for underserved youth and advancing equity in education. She has led two successful bond campaigns in the Norwalk-La Mirada and Paramount Unified School Districts, raising millions to support one-to-one technology initiatives and modernize facilities.
While serving as Superintendent in Paramount, Dr. Pérez also founded an Education Foundation that raised over $250,000 in scholarships, opening doors for students to achieve their academic and career goals. Her leadership extends across key roles, including Deputy Superintendent of Schools at Riverside County Office of Education, Deputy Superintendent of Instruction at Los Angeles Unified School District, and Chief Academic Officer at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.
Dr. Pérez is passionate about mentoring Latino leaders, knowing that students need to "see who they can become." She is actively involved in the AASA Governing Board, ACSA Superintendents Council, and Southern Superintendent’s Association.
A visionary leader, Dr. Pérez continues to drive initiatives that promote innovation, equity, and excellence for all students and educators.
