Dr. Martha Salazar-Zamora is superintendent of Tomball ISD in Texas. A trailblazing education leader, she has served in education in Texas for more than 37 years and is the first female superintendent and first Hispanic superintendent of Tomball ISD. 

Dr. Salazar-Zamora has earned numerous awards and recognitions for her leadership, including being named the 2023 Texas Superintendent of the Year, representing Region 4, and a 2024 AASA National Superintendent of the Year Finalist. She also serves on numerous boards, a testament to her commitment to the growth of public education and the impact it plays in the local community.

Dr. Salazar-Zamora leads a fast-growth district, and one of the highest academic achieving districts in Texas, while maintaining strong financial management practices. Under Dr. Salazar-Zamora’s leadership, Tomball ISD has set the bar high with innovative programs and initiatives that are student-centered and intentional. 

Salazar-Zamora began her education career in Alice ISD as a teacher, educational diagnostician, and speech and language pathologist. Before joining Tomball, Salazar-Zamora served in Round Rock ISD as the deputy superintendent of curriculum and administration. She also has served as superintendent or in other district leadership roles in Houston ISD, Spring ISD, Kingsville ISD, and Bishop Consolidated ISD.
