Dr. Gabriel Trujillo

Dr. Gabriel Trujillo is superintendent of the Tucson Unified School District, home to one of Arizona’s most culturally, ethnically, and academically diverse student populations. Under Dr. Trujillo’s leadership, the district’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusivity for every student resulted in the district’s full and unconditional release from court supervision in its long-standing Desegregation Order, a landmark achievement in the district’s history. Dr. Trujillo led an unprecedented expansion of the fine arts and music program and under his leadership the number of students in the CTE program doubled in six years. 

A native Arizonan and graduate of the Peoria Unified School District, Dr. Trujillo is a proud product of Arizona public schools and has been serving children and young people as a public-school educator for 25 years as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, human resources director, assistant superintendent and superintendent.

He has been recognized by the Arizona Music Education Association as its Superintendent of the Year in 2018 and the Arizona Association for Latino Administrators and Superintendents Superintendent of the Year in 2022. He serves as a board member for the Arizona Business Education Coalition, the Southern Arizona Chapter of the American Heart Association, and as a board member for Tucson Values Teachers.
